As a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Brett Howell has shown a commitment to excellence in the field of elder law and special needs planning. Membership is open to attorneys with a Juris Doctorate and those who are licensed to practice law. The attorney must also practice specifically to benefit the elderly or those with disabilities and have an understanding and sensitivity of the aging process. Membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys means a commitment to a high standard of ethics as an attorney and also must pledge to abide by the Academy’s “Aspirational Standards for the Practice of Elder Law.”
These standards promote professionalism and high ethical standards in elder law and include guidelines for meeting with clients, serving as fiduciary, confidentiality and pursuing further knowledge and training in elder law. Overall, any attorney who pledges to abide by these high standards is sure to be an excellent attorney and will work in a way to best benefit their clients.
